Antique Elegance!
This antique covered veggie dish was made by T&R Boote who tool over the Waterloo Potteries in England in 1850. This piece is made from Royal Semi-Porcelain and the pattern name is Manila, a green transfer ware with gilt trim. This dish measures 11 1/2" long (including handles on both ends) and 8" wide. Notice all the pretty details, including the design at the bottom of the inside. Given the age (ca. 1880's), it is in wonderful condition...the flaws are faint crazing, 1 tiny chip on the edge (smaller than a pen cap). The raised base has some mild discoloration and I've not "bleached it" and some minor gilt wear. This is an old piece to be sure, and not in brand new condition, but a charming usable piece! |
