Straight from the Estate of Betty Meade Stewart of Clarke County VA, a direct descendant of Robert E. Lee, is this beautiful antique platter! Made by E. Challinor, England, ca. mid-1850's, in the most popular mid-blue and white ironstone. The pattern is called Ardennes, which is a mountainous region of France, Belgium and Luxembourg. Beautiful wide rim with center design depicting couples strolling gardens. This usual shaped platter measures 10 3/4" x 8 1/4" and is in excellent condition with age appropriate light crazing and a few spots done at glazing, but no chips, cracks or flea bits of any kind! Perfect addition to your collection! |
